Through a broad range of activities, The Historical and Genealogical Society of Indiana County seeks to promote a greater appreciation of the Indiana community’s rich heritage and a better understanding of life today. We invite you to use our site for information and educational purposes.
The Society is located in the town of Indiana, the county seat and site of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. This mostly rural area of western Pennsylvania is noted for its forest and mineral resources and its scenic beauty.
In 1938, the Society was founded as a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) membership organization. The Society’s purpose is to collect and preserve materials illustrative to Indiana County, its families, businesses, organizations, etc.
